 Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is a time tested proven technology that has been used for decades in other industries.  It is now available for automotive wheels.  This new state of the art process provides a superior alternative to traditional “Chrome Plating”. 

 Chrome plating is well known for the many problems it has with pitting & peeling of the chrome surface.  A PVD coated wheel virtually eliminates those problems. 

We guarantee the coating for three full years.   

 The G-Chrome® process is an environmentally friendly method of producing a bright wheel finish that is more durable than traditional chrome plating.  G-Chrome® is the only PVD finish that is OEM approved.  It comes in two stunning finishes “Bright or Black”.

The manufacturing process uses recyclable powder coatings for the base and clear topcoat layers.  Sandwiched in-between is a simple metal alloy which is applied under vacuum.  The process does not consume or emit any harmful materials to our air, water or soil.  Because there is no need to control pollutants, the PVD coating process also consumes less raw energy, thus further reducing the environmental footprint.

Unlike the layered metal system of traditional chrome plating, PVD coatings are very light.  On average, the PVD finish can save up to 50% on coating weight alone.  This benefit is quickly realized in overall fuel efficiency for your car.

Detroit Wheel and Tire is committed to an easy & hassle-free shopping experience.  We offer “THREE” methods to purchase our PVD Chrome (Bright or Black) Wheels.

 Method One:  Wheel Exchange Program

This is the most popular method because it allows you to purchase a new set of wheels fast, economically and it also provides an easy way for you to recycle and dispose of your old wheels. 

 Just follow these steps:

Step 1:  Browse our online inventory for the set of wheels you currently have on your vehicle.

Note:  If you do not see the set you desire, give us a call or email.  We are constantly expanding our PVD inventory.

Step 2:  Add the set of wheels you want to your shopping cart and check out.

Step 3:  You will be invoiced for the new set of wheels, shipping charge, sales tax (if applicable) and a “Refundable” core deposit.

Note:  In stock wheels will ship within one business day.  Special orders or out of stock wheels will take 2-4 weeks to be processed.  If item is out of stock you will be contacted within 24 hours.

Step 4:  When your wheels arrive, have them installed on your vehicle at your local automotive shop.

Note:  SAVE ALL SHIPPING BOXES AND PACKING MATERIAL!  In the inside box flap will be a shipping pouch with a prepaid return shipping label and a copy of your invoice.  Use the label to return your wheels back to us in the original shipping boxes. 

 Important:  Leave a copy of the invoice in each pouch so we can identify the wheel. 

Step 5:  Place your old wheels into original box supplied by Detroit Wheel and Tire.

Step 6:  Attached the prepaid shipping labels to each box.

Step 7:  Drop off at any facility that accepts UPS Ground shipments.

Step 8:  When the wheel arrives and have been inspected, we will refund your complete deposit within 2 business days.

Requirements for the Exchange Program:

- You have the same style wheels on your car that you are purchasing.

- Your wheel finish is painted, polished or machined.  Chrome and chrome clad wheels are not accepted.

- Your wheels Must Not have any damage. (structural or cosmetic) Cracked or bent wheels can be returned, but will incur a repair charge.

- Any damage that requires repairs or refinishing work in order to make the wheels saleable will be deducted for your core deposit.

Shipping Information:

Exchange shipping charges are $220.00 per set of four wheels, in the continental U.S.  This charge includes shipping costs Both ways.

Method Two:  Outright Purchase

This is an option when you desire to purchase the complete set of wheels without the requirement of returning in your old set of wheels.  Also, we sell many of our overstock sets and prior year wheel models as an outright purchase option only. 

Just follow these steps:

Step 1:  Browse our online inventory for the set of wheels you desire.

Note:  If you do not see the set you desire, give us a call or email.  We are constantly expanding our PVD inventory.

Step 2:  Add the set of wheels you want to your shopping cart and check out.

Step 3:  You will be invoiced for the new set of wheels, shipping charge and sales tax (if applicable).

Note:  In stock wheels will ship within one business day.  Special orders or out of stock wheels will take 2-4 weeks to be processed.

Step 4:  When your wheels arrive, get them installed on your vehicle and show them off to neighbors & friends!

 Note:  We do buy select wheel models for our commercial wheel replacement division.  Call one of our Internet Sales Specialist, for a quote. 

Shipping Information:

Outright purchase shipping charges are $130.00 per set of four wheels, in the continental U.S. 

Method Three:  Coating Service

This is an option when you have the ability to send us your wheels and we will have them prepped and coated for you.  Some customers are able to put their car on jacks, have other wheels & tires to use or have purchased their own set of wheels to coat. 

In addition, our coating service provides a way for customers to get a PVD Chrome Coating for their wheels that we do not normally have in stock. 

Just follow these steps:

Step 1:  This option requires you to call or email to our Internet Sales Team.

Step 2:  Our sales team will provide you a quote to have your wheels prepped & coated.

Step 3:  You will be invoiced for the prep & coating charge, shipping charge and sales tax (if applicable).

Step 4:  We will then ship you out four (4) empty shipping boxes, so you can ship your wheel back to us.

Note:  SAVE ALL SHIPPING BOXES AND PACKING MATERIAL!  In the inside box flap will be a shipping pouch with a prepaid return shipping label and a copy of your invoice.  Use the label to return your wheels back to us in the original shipping boxes. 

 Important:  Leave a copy of the invoice in each pouch so we can identify the wheel.

Step 5:  Put your wheels into the shipping boxes we sent you.  Put a prepaid shipping label on each box and drop them off at any facility that accepts UPS Ground shipments.

Shipping Information:

Shipping charges for our coating service is $250.00 per set of four wheels, in the continental U.S.  This charge includes shipping costs for all three legs of the shipping process.

Optional:  If you ship us your wheels that you want coated directly, then the return shipping charge will be $130.00.
